Our Knit Pick of the Season

Wool and the Gang Kids' Collection

wool and the gang kids' collection!

There’s nothing like Christmas music a week too early to set off itchy flashbacks of Great Aunt Florence’s epic Santa sweaters.

Whistle a different tune thanks to Wool and the Gang. The hip masterminds behind a line of chic DIY knitting kits have just launched a pint-size collection for kids.

The sets come with everything you need (yarn, wooden needles, and a pattern) and yield crazy-cute scarves, hats, and sweaters for littles. And if the girls in the gang are to be believed, a beginner can finish the projects in a matter of hours.

Try the Jolly Pocket scarf (and stop worrying about them losing their mittens) or the vaguely bank robber-ish Off Piste hood. Feeling ambitious? Go all out with the Sailor sweater, an inspired layering piece for all seasons.

Grandma (and her sisters) would be proud.

Available at Wool and the Gang, 98 Thompson Street, between Prince and Spring Streets (212-966-9266 or woolandthegang.com), $64-$94.
