We love a good comeback. It’s what Robert Downey Jr. and Lacoste dreams are made of.
Add veteran restaurateur Alison Price Becker to the revival list: Alison Eighteen, her first NYC venture since 2002, opens tonight in the Flatiron District.
Inspired by Parisian rotisseries, chef Robert Gurvich’s seasonal menu rotates around the spit (ask for the daily roast). Crunch on escarole, apple, and raw yellow beet salad dotted with hazelnuts, or start hearty with celery root and oyster stew. Share a bowl of foraged black trumpet mushrooms atop buttery polenta before gorging on fall-off-the-bone veal and root veggies.
The airy space — decked with purple booths and quirky custom Payton Turner wallpaper — was initially imagined as a food court. A soon-to-open kiosk dishing daytime pastries and salads and nighttime sandwiches and roast chickens keeps the casual concept alive.
A subterranean lounge equipped with 80-inch TV, piano, bar, and billiards table is also in the works.
Guaranteeing your return.
