A Thousand Picnics Opens in Williamsburg

Tasty Fashion Collaboration

a thousand picnics!

And now, a lost episode of The Yogi Bear Show.

Yogi: Hey there, Boo Boo. How about a pic-a-nic basket? I hear there’s a new shop in Williamsburg with thousands.

Boo Boo: And they say you’re smarter than the average bear. A Thousand Picnics is a joint venture from indie darlings Species by the Thousands and Cold Picnic, in soft opening starting tomorrow.

Y: Cold cuts, yum.

BB: Not cold cuts, Cold Picnic. As in the line by Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer. Etched leather watches, brass rings and cuffs, and doodads (blankets in leather harnesses, lace ties, macrame plant hangers) fill the rustic space. They’ve also launched a collaborative line of room sprays, essential oil blends, and soap inspired by folk magic.

Y: What about pies?

BB: None to be found, though Species designer Erica Bradbury’s printed pillows and tees, dream catchers, and nature-inspired baubles are effortlessly tasteful.

Y: Let’s go go go.

A Thousand Picnics, 171 South 4th Street, at Driggs Avenue, Williamsburg (coldpicnic.com). Opening party, Thursday, 6-8 p.m.
