I enjoy this time of year because of high-volume music festivals and brand new party jams. But I’m digging Liars’s summer release, Wixiw, for different reasons.
The electronic-soaked sounds are suited for cozying under the covers or contemplating life (time for a zip code change?) on a subway platform. With each listen, I appreciate something new: the strums on “Ill Valley Prodigies,” the wistfulness of “The Exact Colour of Doubt,” and the hint of Radiohead in “His and Mine Sensations.”
Hit the suitably dark and smoky Webster Hall tomorrow night to hear these songs on full blast.
I’ll be upstairs perched by the balcony, steps from the bar. Reflecting. — Stephanie, research editor (and musicphile)
