Alicia Reina's Debut Collection

The bold and the beautiful

alicia reina!

Let’s be clear: We get that see-through clothes are sheer madness.

But Alicia Reina — a new NYC-designed and -sourced line — is our kind of crazy.

Impeccably constructed from laces (geometric white diamonds, black stripes that fade into flowers), translucent prints, and opaque fabrics, Reina’s collection leaves little to the imagination.

Pair a black pencil skirt with orange tap shorts or a ghostlike sheath with confidence (or a slip). A body-skimming maxi dress and hooded, sleeveless tuxedo jacket give formal wear some cheek, though our favorite outfit is a lime green and lace jumpsuit with gauzy legs (think of them as built-in mosquito nets).

Reina, an RISD and Polimoda (Florence, Italy) grad, works out of Greenpoint and happily meets you in person to create custom variations (lining, length) if a RTW piece isn’t just right.

Feel free to go nuts.

Available at Gamine, 439 Metropolitan Avenue, between North 5th and 6th Streets, Williamsburg (347-541-4652 or gamine.co); End of Century, 237 Eldridge Street, between Houston and Stanton Streets (646-580-4051 or endofcenturynyc.com), $110-$1,500.
