The Weekend Guide

chef paul qui!

Hi there, Texas.

Chef Paul Qui’s Tasting Menu
For only six nights, the Austin culinary bravado (and winner of Top Chef and a James Beard award) prepares a seven-course sneak peek of his new endeavor.
Why: Summery dishes, like tuna, lardo, crystalized soy, and melon and tomato water, mussels, celery, and basil blossom, prove there’s more to the Lone Star State than barbecue.
When: July 30-Aug. 4, 7:30 p.m.
Where: City Grit Culinary Salon, 38 Prince St., b/t Mott & Mulberry Sts. Tickets ($95) at citygritnyc.com.

MCMC Scented Dinner Party
Brooklyn-based perfumers become the latest installment in chef Tessa Liebman’s Methods & Madness dinner parties with a four-courser and wine pairings to overload the senses (in the best way).
Why: Oysters with beach plum jam on a bed of rose-scented seaweed take their cues from a bottle of Maine, while the Noble variety informs the jasmine confit duck.
When: Sun., 6:30 p.m.
Where: Jo’s Restaurant, 264 Elizabeth St., b/t Houston & Prince Sts. (212-966-9640). Tickets ($125) at gusta.com.

100th Mister Party
Mister Saturday Night DJs Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin spin house and disco punctuated with funk, jazz, soul, and other zesty sounds for an afternoon delight.
Why: Dancing among a bevy of balloons works up an appetite. Chow down on Sfoglini’s organic noodles and Country Boys’s tacos.
When: Sun., 3-9 p.m.
Where: Gowanus Grove, 400 Carroll St., b/t Bond & Nevins Sts., Gowanus. For free admission before 5 p.m., email mister@mistersaturdaynight.com. Admission is $10 at the door.

The New York Public Library Point
Spines and pages get shelved while the city institution self-publishes select collections as e-books.
Why: Photog Kenn Duncan’s snaps of male celebrities (Christopher Walken included) from the ’60s to the ’80s populate the inaugural issue.
When: You need a cerebral time killer.
Where: At itunes.com, free.

Get Weird: Antipop Consortium
What: Hip-hop drops an electric beat in the alternative group’s set celebrating the New Museum’s latest exhibition, Ghosts in the Machine.
Why: Spotify radio won’t pop up with anything this interesting.
When: Fri., 7 p.m.
Where: 235 Bowery, at Prince St. (212-219-1222). Tickets ($12) at museumtix.com.
