Estuaries Swimwear Launches

Hawaii by way of NYC

estuaries swimwear!

People who say New Yorkers don’t need swimsuits in winter have never run out of clean lingerie during a snowstorm.

The rest of us can pack Estuaries, the debut swim collection from Hawaii-born, NYC-based sisters Zhu Ru and Layla Chen.

Inspired by the diametric nature of their Honolulu upbringing and Eastern-city educations (Zhu Ru graduated from FIT; Layla holds a business degree from the University of Massachusetts), the duo engineers suits for both wave riding and urban rooftop sunning.

The full sporty collection won’t hit stores till spring, but bicolor (white and black or turquoise) mesh halters, wide-strap bikini bottoms, ruched sweetheart bandeaus, and Gatsby-style cutout bathers will get you through the long weekend.

Mesh cover-up tank tops that convert to carryalls with one zip are also in-shop.

And useful for toting your new bikinis to the Laundromat.

Available at shopdeen.com, $175-$360. To see styles, go to estuariesny.com.
