When it comes to fancy footwork, this ain’t our first rodeo.
But we were instantly roped in by Freda Salvador, the debut collection of flats and boots with interchangeable sections of animal-printed pony hair and durable Brazilian leather.
Well-educated pals (fashion at Academy of Art University, costume design at UVA) and former Anyi Lu designers Cristina Palomo and Megan Papay drew inspiration from constant traveling and a shared footwear philosophy that pairs can have different personalities.
Transform oxfords into kicky loafers by removing a snap-on saddle; fold down the extra layer on tall riding boots to reveal edgy ankle booties. Stand-alone styles include the desert moccasin boot (in black leather) and the snow leopard boot with back strap.
They’re winners out of the gate.
Available at La Boutique, 414 Jackson Street, between Hotaling Place and Sansome Street (415-693-9950 or laboutique-galerie.com); at fredasalvador.com, $350-$595.
