Football is like fashion, what with the tight pants, celebratory dances when you score, and desire to tackle someone wearing a color you don’t like.
Rush for Visantine, a new line from Brooklyn-based duo Ivy Thompson (FIT) and Maria Piessis.
The athletic yet ladylike collection was created in Piessis’s living room after both quit their day jobs in fashion’s equivalent of a fourth and goal. The result: a touchdown.
Pounce on not-so-basics like a salmon wool blazer with side cutouts, ready-to-layer knit leggings, and an array of button-down chiffon crop tops (mint, black, nude stripes).
Heavier fall looks are made to order. Battle winter in a reversible gray print/cream hooded cape or nail comfort in a navy sweatshirt with extended shoulders and contrast piping. A textured black vest that zips in back offers the same strong silhouette without the sleeves; wear it over a patchwork silk sheath or leather-collared cotton sateen blouse.
Available at American Two Shot, 135 Grand Street, at Crosby Street (212-925-3403 or americantwoshot.com); by email (firstname.lastname@example.org), $180-$550. To see styles, go to visantinecollective.com.
