We asked the taste-making triple threat about her lucky charms, favorite places, and fantasy fictional BFF.

Name: Rebecca Goldschmidt

Neighborhood: West Oakland

Occupation: Freelance photographer, stylist, writer, and adventurer

What’s the last movie you saw in theaters?
I just saw Dawn of the Dead at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in L.A. Zombies!

What song best describes your personal style?
“I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” by Whitney Houston.

You have 24 hours to spend $500 in the Bay Area. What would you do?
Go to court and pay the traffic ticket I got for running a red on my bike.

What’s your lucky charm?
Wearing a piece of jewelry from each of my grandmothers and my mom.

Create an East Bay scavenger hunt with your five favorite spots.
Mandela Foods Co-op, Esqueleto, Mercy Vintage, B-Dama, Port View Park.

Best way to bust out of a creative rut:
Any kind of travel, bike rides, trips to the library, and dancing.

Which fictional character would you most like to hang out with?
Jane from Daria.

What’s your favorite blog post so far?
I wrote about Hans Krondahl’s ’60s and ’70s textile work a few years ago, and he ended up contacting me with links to more of his work. Then, I interviewed him and posted more; we’ve had a really great correspondence ever since. The blog has connected me with so many random strangers around the world. How else would I become friends with an 83-year-old Swedish textile designer than through the Internet?
