Roadies. Not just the definition of those with the band or illegal to-go beverages anymore. Here, we break down the city’s newest fan group.
After Willow Road, a new restaurant beneath the High Line from Will Malnati and Doug Jacob, opening tomorrow.
Found among reclaimed wood paneling, ’30s-’70s paraphernalia (Miss Subways-inspired prints, Stones sound track), and gallery-quality neon lettering. Range is bordered by a semiprivate dining nook, bar, and neighborhood mural by James Gulliver Hancock. Hotter at night.
Chef Todd MacDonald’s (Cru, Boston’s Clio) mussels a la plancha with kumquat-drawn butter (eat the fruit). Also known to consume copious amounts of cavatelli and cheese with fennel pollen and garlicky grilled lobster with cheddar grits. Vegetarian variety prefers parfaitesque pumpkin with Swiss chard and hon-shimeji veloute.
Enjoys occasional games shown on disguised mirrors/TVs and revamped classic cocktails from mixologist Greg Seider (Summit Bar, Minetta Tavern). Shoots tequila with cinnamon and orange.
Rapid population growth predicted.
