Meet Scout Society member Rebecca Taylor.
How do you pay the rent?
I founded Rebecca Taylor with my business partner, Beth, in 1996. We’re so proud to have opened a New York flagship last year on Madison Avenue, our third store in the city and the eighth boutique in the U.S.
How else do you fill your days?
I am constantly inspired by my surroundings, New York, people, music, and art — I use that inspiration every day. This is a picture of a Matisse work at the Met, which I love.
Who are you following these days and why?
@CFDA — It’s always good to know what’s going on in the industry and with my peers.
Let’s get Scouting. A self-portrait?
Reading is what relaxes me, inspires me, and also keeps me creative. It’s essential to my life.
Your morning coffee?
Not much of a coffee drinker, but I can’t get enough of tea, especially peppermint.
Your beauty stash?
I prefer a clean, simple look and can never pass up a good lip gloss!
Your significant other, lover, or BFF?
My husband, Wayne, an artist, is all of those things. Here’s a picture of one of his prints.
The one photo that you refuse to delete from your phone?
I have tons of pictures of my children on my phone, but this is one of my favorites.
Your work space?
I’m rarely sitting at my desk. This is myself, our fit model, and our show stylist, Kate, in a styling session in our showroom for the upcoming runway show.
What’s the last thing you bought?
Chanel eye shadow. I haven’t decided what to wear to the show yet but I at least have some makeup to try out!
A Fashion Week sneak preview?
Here’s a sketch from the upcoming collection. Fall 2013 silhouettes are modern and clean with organic architectural embellishments, color blocking, and fabric mixing.
