When today’s boho trend is tomorrow’s sloppy seconds, it can be hard to walk the line fashionably.
Straighten up with M2Malletier, a new collection of sculptural purses with classic appeal.
The line’s provenance is complicated: Designers Melissa Losada and Marcela Velez were born in Colombia, became acquainted and trained in NYC at Parsons, and now call Barcelona home.
Each geometric tote and miniature doctor’s folio is finished with unconventional hardware (thin, mirror-polished rod handles) and comes with a detachable strap. Pick from black, nude, or purple calfskin and minimalist, Moorish architecture-inspired rectangular or hexagonal profiles.
Questions? Ask Losada and Velez yourself at their launch party this Saturday at Owen (the only shop in the U.S. to carry the bags). There will be jams from Low Pitch Orchestra, wine from The Naked Grape, and hot babes (we’re assuming you’re coming).
Available at Owen, 809 Washington Street, between Gansevoort and Horatio Streets (212-524-9770 or owennyc.com). Party, Saturday, 6-8 p.m. R.S.V.P. to firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, go to m2malletier.com.
