Ah, Saturday.
You’ve gone shopping.
You’ve pigged out on brunch.
Now get off your lazy bum and do something good.
Paint candy everywhere!
Publicolor, a not-for-profit organization, offers Saturday volunteering opportunities—the perfect outlet for you to tap into your inner Van Gogh by repainting the public spaces of inner-city schools. Gray and graffiti-ridden buildings are painted aqua, persimmon, and marigold. As a volunteer, you are also partnered with a student and are encouraged to talk about education, career choices, life, love, and happiness.
So even if you don’t consider yourself an artiste, it’s the perfect antidote to the pathological New York mindset otherwise known as “Me! Me! Me!”
