Say the words “ice queen,” and we can all think of plenty of candidates who fit the bill.
(Again, folks, this is not a competition; keep your thoughts to yourselves.)
But an Ice Man?
No we’re not talking Kevin Spacey. We’re not talking Vanilla Ice. We’re talking Joe O’Donoghue, a/k/a Ice Man, who custom designs over-the-top ice sculptures for clients like Letterman, David LaChapelle, Pepsi-Cola, the VH1 Fashion Awards, Annie Leibovitz, Tiffany’s, Nobu, and Robert Isabell. Our personal favorite was his ultimate no-calorie confection, the ice-cube wedding cake he did for Martha Stewart.
Ice Man got his start working at a Hilton hotel in Long Island. One day, when the regular carver didn’t show, Joe, a carpenter by trade, whipped out his chainsaw and sculpted a horse’s head.
Now he’s appearing in 9& Co. commercials wearing red leather pants and a wife-beater, carving a shoe from a block of ice.
And you thought your Manolos hurt bad.
