Rockefeller Center: ice-skating, NBC studios, shops that carry every New York knick-knack imaginable…but what gives with the startling dearth of decent places to dine?
And what’s with the guy with the hot-dog cart?
Problem solved. Hit Medi, the much-hyped restaurant brought to you by renowned French chef Roger Verge and Robert Ruggeri of Bice Restaurant (and no, there will be no Sabrettes served here). The 7,000-square-foot-space is a mix of French and Italian, and serves a mean agnolotti Toscani (stuffed with veal, spinach, and mushrooms), black-truffle-and-wild-mushroom spaghetti, and a Provencal beef filet with brandy-raisin sauce and chickpea cakes. Desserts are pure Italian decadence: white chocolate tiramisu, cantucci and Vin Santo.
Hang in the piazza, sip a glass of wine, and pretend New York City is thousands of miles away.
Now, if only those awful American tourists would go home.
