NYC’s Best Boutiques of 2013

A look back at the year’s fashionable openings

best boutiques of 2013!

If you’re lucky, the holidays will bring a few envelopes of extra cash. Fortunately, we have the perfect spots for spending it: our favorite boutiques of 2013.

Apparel of Your Eye
If marching to the beat of your own drum is your MO, you can appreciate shelves stocked with indie labels from far and wide. Hit up Mirador boutique for global treasures in the form of carefully curated clothing, accessories, and swimwear. More than 50 emerging designers call Swords-Smith’s roomy Williamsburg storefront home. Head to Personnel for a pitch-perfect selection of apparel and accessories from labels big and small.

For vintage lovers, Bushwick’s colorful haunt Collections stocks retro gems and locally designed jewelry.

For the Homies
To impress your guests or make your host/hostess happy, turn to glitzy home entertaining shop Jung Lee for an eclectic mix of serving pieces, candles, and accessories. If styles from across the pond are up your alley, Flat 128 houses transatlantic trinkets, jewelry, home decor, and knickknacks. For a rustic Italian approach to your abode, look to Il Buco Vita’s showroom for table, glass-, and dishware sourced straight from the Boot.

Foot Fetish
Happy feet require a sweet pair of socks. Browse the vast selection of colorful, patterned stockings at Happy Socks.

Menswear Mentor
Many fashionable women steal styles from men, which is why we seek inspiration from Carson Street Clothiers. Accessories (vintage watches, glasses), canvas and leather luggage, and oversize sweaters are fit for boys, girls, and tomboys alike.

Two Scents
Boerum Hill’s fragrance and apothecary post, Twisted Lily, sells scents from overseas (Italy, France) and nearby (Brooklyn). If your nose doesn’t know, look no further than the exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable staff.
