Win with Primary

A clothing collection that gets it right

Let’s play word association. Your turn first: “Primary.”

“Colors,” “elections,” and “school” are all acceptable (but boring) answers.

For an exciting new perspective, check out Primary’s clothing collection. Founder/creative director Cleo Schroeder’s love of art and geometry (she modeled the collection after the Jewish Museum’s notable 1966 exhibit, Primary Structures) inspired the thoughtful, wearable staples.

Mask bulky layers beneath the elegant Akasha black cape. The Nadine dress’s lace, raglan-style sleeves take your tired LBD up a notch. Classic items run the gamut, from leather moto jackets and vests to flounce skirts and leggings. Our favorite? A plush merino wool sweater with fringe sleeves (available in black and white or burgundy).

Striking pieces from the spring collection (dropping February 2014) include a sleeveless trench, refined blush overcoat, and warm-weather knits.

Python clutches in classic black or brights add intrigue to basic day and nighttime getups.

Fashion first.

Available at 3NY, 448 Broome Street, between Broadway and Mercer Street (212-226-0260 or 3nyboutiques.com); at primaryny.com and revolveclothing.com, $68-$495.
