TanDa Opens

Wet your finger.

Hold it in the air.

Can you feel it? Fall is here. And with every season comes a new hot spot. So, drum roll please…Tomorrow TanDa opens, and the restaurant/bar/lounge is the address on everyone’s lips.

The gig? Modern Southeast Asian cuisine. Try the oysters with lime sorbet, the roasted duck, or (skinny model food, please!) the pea-shoot pomelo salad. Upstairs, if you can squirm your way past the maitre d’, you’ll find walls covered in rich pink-and-orange silk, long serpentine banquettes, and separate “platforms” for you to cavort in privacy until 4 a.m.

Sound a bit like the old celeb spot Moomba? No coincidence; TanDa is owned by a few of the same folks. But they’ve come a long way from the tribe of the velvet rope. This is real food. This is posh, and we mean it in the best of ways. For all the fun-poking we do at the hotter-than-hot spots, this is one we just might frequent. Like, often. The owners assure us, “Unlike at Moomba there will be no attitude.”

Maybe this city has become a kinder, gentler place after all…

TanDa, 331 Park Avenue South, between 24th and 25th Streets (212-253-8400).
