Is it already time to plan Friday night? Again? We understand: We’re tired of the usual options, too. Dinner at ManRay? MaisNon. Drinks at a kinder, gentler TanDa? Did that last week. And don’t get us started on the Halloween invites insisting that we “dress to thrill.” What are we, seven?
Before you flee to the enveloping warmth of your bathtub, we have a better idea. Let someone else do the entertaining: Go see a show. No, nothing as grand as saving Broadway. We had in mind a more intimate, downtown affair.
Eddie Pepitone takes over a space shuttle and has an odd relationship with his pooch as he runs through the range of characters of his one-man show, The Big Push. Maybe you’ll stop laughing once throughout the performance, but we doubt it.
Or check out Ann Magnuson’s Rave Mom at P.S. 122. In hilarious and moving bits, she flashes back to the era of dot-com millionaires, Vanity Fair Oscar parties, and raves in Vegas.
Both shows end soon, but that’s okay; By next weekend, you’ll be ready to be the center of attention again.
