Best new Greek restaurant in town? Read on.
From the team that brought you Avra, Milos, and the Upper East Side favorite Trata comes the latest Greek creation, Thias. Located across the street from the Museum of Natural History in a two-level town house, Thias serves the same classic Greek fare that made Trata famous. The menu includes black sea bass, shellfish youvetsi, xifias souvlaki, and a raw bar. Control freaks can pick their fish of the day from a beautiful ice display. (Is that John Dory looking at me funny?)
Thias (Greek for “Zeus”) is decorated with reproductions of sculptures from the National Archaeological Museum of Athens and murals of ancient Greek ruins. Downstairs, the bar is stocked with ouzos — to ensure the perfect Greek hangover. No word yet on whether the DJ will be playing bouzouki records.
Just remember: No plate throwing. Real Greeks would never do that.
Thias, 103 West 77th Street, at Columbus Avenue (212-721-6603).
