What better way to celebrate Mother Nature’s clemency than with the latest fashion trend: the poncho.

No, not the alpaca-wool schmatte you saw fashion baddies parading around in seasons ago. This is more of an after-school-mom-patrol look: classic, plastic. Real rain gear. It’s cheap, chic (in an I’m-so-confident-I-can-wear-anything-and-look-cool way), and colorful. (They come in canary yellow, orange, red, blue … even camouflage.)

So say no-thanks to the Sherlock Holmes trench trend and hello to el cheapo poncho.

It’s not like we’re suggesting you strap baggies around your shoes with rubber bands.
