What if Willy Wonka went into the adult entertainment business?
Exxxtreme chocolate? Now you’re talking.
Today, Chocolate Bar opens in the West Village. Owners Alison McGonigal and Matt Lewis may be new to the sweet-and-eats business, but they’ve put a lifelong snacking hobby to good use and have created a cozy neighborhood spot — a much-needed break from Starbucks overload.
What’s on the menu? Everything sinful: truffles, biscotti-flavored clusters, a killer PB&J chocolate bar. And you can wash it all down with a New York egg cream.
Not enough? Okay, you’re truly an addict. Try one of four different iced and hot chocolates, served martini-style (shaken, then garnished with crumbled Rocher, rosemary-caramel sauce, or Mexican chocolate sauce).
But don’t be confused that they’re calling it a bar. Liquor is strictly reserved for the chocolates.
