A momentous occasion in NYC history:
A steakhouse designed to please chicks.
Dylan Prime opens today.
The creation of 24-year-old chef Mina Newman (resume: Layla and 57/57), the TriBeCa restaurant is geared to accommodate both the carnivorous and the bird-like patron (“What exactly is in the Vegetarian Lazy Susie? Is that cream based?”) For in-between-ers, there’s untraditional steakhouse fare like crab timbales, sea bass and a fricassee of market mushrooms. All featured on a menu with deliberately “feminine” touches like the choice of “chapeaux” (translation: crusts) with each entree, as well as an extensive selection of “accessories” (translation: side dishes).
We can hear Peter Luger turning in his grave.
Dylan Prime, 62 Laight Street, between Greenwich and Hudson Streets, (212-334-4783).
