Hate to break it to you, but when your financial advisor told you to invest in art, he didn’t mean those awe-inspiring kitten heels.
What to do? Intro to Art History is such a blur now. (Chiaroscuro? Um … a new Italian restaurant?)
Never fear. The art scene has a very unintimidating new It Girl: Jennifer Ross.
Ross paints in an impressionistic, Degas-meets-Warhol pop style. Her latest paintings are based on popular television shows and music videos. We love the TRL Retired Classic (What a Girl Wants) and Music (Madonna). Capitol Records recently commissioned portraits of The Vines and Robbie Williams.
But you need not be a loaded muckety-muck to get your own painting based on your favorite show. (Carrie Bradshaw Hailing Taxi? Carmela Soprano Making Ziti?) The possibilities are limitless, and prices start at $300 for a 10-by-12, $800 for a 24-by-32. Not a bad investment when you consider that a Jennifer Ross painting won’t be out of style next season.
Which is more than we can say about those Marc Jacobs pumps you’ve been coveting.
