Hold your horses, folks. You’re going to have to find someplace else to keep that horse and carriage.
Because today the Carriage House opens, housed in an 18th-century carriage house on 18th Street.
The menu (which might not be fully operational until later this week) includes ceviche, grilled pompano with asparagus and spring-pea risotto, and pan-fried pistachio-dusted skate. In the meantime, hang out at the bar and have the shrimp shooters.
The exterior maintains its original old-world charm. Inside, a 70-foot mural transports diners to the California desert. The yellow and orange palette is downright mod: Think Palm Springs, circa 1950.
Planning to stay past midnight? Make sure you have a ride home.
Wouldn’t want your carriage turning into a pumpkin.
