The Next West Thing

Imagine this: You’re feeling easy-breezy, sauntering up to your favorite beach snack bar.

Except that instead of your average patty, you’re savoring an award-winning burger. And in lieu of a formulaic frank, you’re scarfing a haute hot dog on a bun baked especially for you by the pastry chef.

A pipe dream? Nah. It’s a reality at Westville, a tiny West Village haunt that — as of today — is open all year round. All the pleasures of beach dining, minus the L.I.E. traffic and Hamptons attitude.

Go ahead and dare to dream of po’boys stuffed with fresh cod and fish sticks made from crispy seared tuna. Westville serves them up, along with perfectly aged sirloin, a seemingly endless sausage selection (even vegans have options!), a daily array of fresh salads, delicious homemade cream cheese, and coffee made from a secret house recipe. All in an environment blessedly free of the obnoxious antics of NYC’s summer beach scene. (You know you watched the infamous television show last year.)

All they need to do now is hand out sunless tanner with the check.
