Wake up. Shower. Go to work. Go to gym. Eat dinner. Pass out. Repeat ad infinitum.
When did your routine get, well, so routine? Time to get back into the extracurriculars.
Start with Project Sunshine, a not-for-profit organization that provides customized recreational, educational, and social programs to children with medical challenges. (The kids’ families benefit too.)
There’s a spot for every volunteer, no matter where your talents lie. Artistic, are ya? Help out with arts and crafts, music, and drama programs. Got the fix-it bug? Pitch in with hospital-improvement projects, such as painting and renovating the pediatric units. Type-A personalities can take the event-planner route, arranging for clowns, musicians, and magicians to deliver toys and cheer, or they can help organize holiday parties. You can also tutor or lead educational games, to assist kids who are missing school during long periods of illness and hospitalization.
However you choose to get involved, it’s sure to brighten a child’s day.
Not to mention your own.
