First she brought us Dok Suni, the reliably hip East Village
Korean restaurant.
And we were happy.
Then she brought us Do Hwa, an equally impressive culinary venture
on Carmine Street, showcasing installations by up-and-coming
artists.
And we were even happier, because now we had her delicious Korean
fare on sides both east and west and we had pretty things to look
at as we crammed kimchi into our mouths.
Now 27 year-old restaurateur Jenny Kwak is providing us with a
late-night plan: a movie and cocktails.
Tonight at midnight, “Art Videos and Drug Shit”, a collection of
short films by David Rourke Evans will be screened. “Cinema
Cocktails” include “Mr. Blue” (“Reservoir Dogs”) and “Jake Gittes”
(“Chinatown”) — an idea conceived to make investor Quentin
Tarantino, well, happy. (We can’t say it exactly upset us
either).
A part of the proceeds benefits Food for Survival, which provides food to the homeless in NYC.
So even more people can be happy.
Do Hwa, 55 Carmine Street, at Bedford Street,
