24 Hour Party People

You work hard. You play even harder.

And, dammit, you’re entitled to duck meatloaf and disco fries at 4:15 in the morning.

But, lo, the sad truth of New York party-going: It’s hard to find a decent 24 hour restaurant anymore.

Diner 24, which just opened at the intersection of Chelsea and Meatpacking, goes where few greasy spoons have gone before. The genre-bending joint, designed and owned by Alex Freij, of industry (food), is part slick (a bar of onyx and glass, walls made of Vermont Pecan and Georgia Peach granite) and part hick (servers wear creative cowboy uniforms). Stop in for breakfast, meet for flirty cocktails (watch your bottom: the bar stools are oddly slide-y), or tumble in for an illicit whatever in the wee small hours.

With everything from fish tacos and panzanella salad to double chocolate devil’s food pancakes and Dagwood sandwiches, you may never work your way through the whole menu.

But at least you have 24/7 to try.
