And it’s time to relive the ’80s teen classic at You See Us as You Want to See Us … Reflections from “The Breakfast Club,” an hour-long play based on the original flick — with tunes from the original soundtrack and characters tweaked for comic effect. The jock is out of the closet; the nerd is Asian (an obvious nod to Long Duck Dong); weirdo Allison is battling her weight (must be all that sugar she put on her cereal sandwich); Molly Ringwald’s spoiled brat is an unattractive shrew. If all goes well, Principal Vernon will played by a revolving doorful of B-listers. (Paris? Monica? Get ready to shine.)

And Bender? Well, everyone’s favorite badass turns out to be just a plain old ass. Though you’ll probably laugh when he utters those immortal words …

“Eat. My. Shorts.”
