They say the eyes are the windows into the soul.
Apparently, they also give you a good view of tired spleens, sluggish lymphatic systems, and states of internal distress. (And no, we aren’t talking about under-eye circles.)
That’s the theory behind iridology, a lesser-known alternative medical practice that’s been around since biblical times. According to Judy Vedder, New York’s sole full-time practitioner, iridology is best used as a diagnostic tool, not as a replacement for your G.P. In a typical session, Vedder, who is like the sweetest great aunt ever, “reads” your iris. Every area of your eye corresponds to a part of your body, and any spot or discoloration indicates a potential trouble spot.
A little wacky? Sure. But also totally neat, especially for those who find themselves endlessly fascinating. (Who, me?) And no kidding, without any prior knowledge, Vedder identified a recent kidney condition.
As for what’s going on in that head of yours, don’t give up on your shrink just yet.
