Talk about irony. Women who complained about having to wear school uniforms as girls now itch to doll up in pleated minis and Fair Isle sweaters.
You know, to cut class, flirt with boys, and stay up way past curfew.
The just-opened Upper West Side outpost of G.C. William will indulge anachronistic whims and school-girl fantasies alike. Belgian siblings Guy William and Chantal Taic have been outfitting young urbanites on the East Side for the past six years: This semester they’re upgrading their offerings from children’s formalwear to prepster favorites, like Blue Cult, Kooba, and enough Juicy to outfit the senior class at Spence (and their teenile moms).
The 72nd Street store takes things a step further with working girl pieces from the more grown-up labels Single, Emerge, and Iisli. Guy’s wife, Jennifer, is the store’s personal stylist, available for by-appointment consultations and extra tutoring.
She can make you look just like you did as a high-school sophomore.
But with more flair, fewer zits, and no curfew.
G.C. William, 111 West 72nd Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam
Avenues (212-873-2314).
