Chip off the Block

Woon Salon

Nothing bestows instant cachet like the right address.

And by that we don’t mean a uniformed doorman, manicured lawn, or snooty Zip code.

It’s all about the neighbors.

The Woon hair salon is the latest addition to the cozy-cool strip of Spring Street that includes Duncan Quinn’s natty bespoke shop and Jen Bekman’s gallery of up-and-comers. Woon is a bright, intimate hideaway (fresh flowers, exposed white brick, hardwood floors) with serene, Asian-inspired accents (dig the fish tank).

The brains behind it are former Oribe protege Kevin Woon and colorist Michaelanthony, whose collective coif creds include TV and editorial gigs too numerous to mention. The only proof you’ll need, though, is how you’ll look in the mirror when they’re through with you. (“You” meaning girls and boys, by the way.)

Yep. There goes the neighborhood.

Woon, 6 Spring Street, between Elizabeth Street and Bowery (212-608-2272).
