It’s all about the little things. A gentle nudge at wake-up. A midday snack. A treat before bed.
A charming, neighborly, non-corporate place to get a cup of coffee and read the paper.
Welcome to ‘sNice, a warm, roomy, wi-fi-coming-soon, blog-your-brains-out cafe that just opened in the West Village. (And, yeah, we’ll say it: It’s nice.)
Owner Mike Walter (of Elbow Room fame) and designer Louis Delgado (Hiro and Pace, of late) know how to tend to the details. The steel, exposed-brick, and wood space is cute but not cutesy. The crowd is relaxed but not ho-hum. The decor includes four-year-old Dahlia’s (daughter of Mike) finest works in her preferred medium (Magic Marker). There’s a large back room where you can perch while you eat Deborah’s (Mrs. Mike’s) special granola muffins, vegan Philly cheesesteaks, and one-of-a-kind marshmallows (and try your darndest to play hard to get with the hottie across the room).
Because sometimes it’s also about the big truths. Nice guys usually finish way better than last.
‘sNice, 45 Eighth Avenue, at West 4th Street (212-645-0310).
