You know the type: shows up at a dinner party with a killer bottle of Bordeaux, flatters the hostess, and stays to clean till the wee hours.
Brownnosing little hussy.
Now, now. Bitterness is no answer. Sweetness is. The next time you’re asked over, hit Lady M Cake Boutique, which opens this week on the Upper East Side, and be the star of the eve. The pastry haven has an assortment of twenty exquisite cakes and tarts, which they display on a 24-foot white marble and creamy onyx cake runway. (Their term, not ours.)
The signature cake, the Lady M Mille Crepes, is a dazzling twenty-layers of crepes and cream. Others include Petits Choux (bite-size cream puffs) and Miroir Caramel (dark-chocolate sponge cake with caramel mousse). The names are French, but the parent company is based in Japan, where it has a robust wholesale op and popular cafe. The New York location has twelve seats where you can indulge in tea sandwiches, espresso drinks, and T Salon teas.
Cakes are available whole or by the slice. You can be sure to find something to please your hostess.
Getting even is so much better than getting mad.
Tastier, too.
