The Other, Other Cheap Thrill
National Wine Week
Tax-free week seeming just a wee bit tired? Another spin: Over 13,000 bottles of wine will be poured in New York City this week, and not a glass among them will cost a penny. The New York Restaurant Group kicks off National Wine Week today. Midtown spots such as Smith & Wollensky, Maloney & Porcelli, Park Avenue Cafe, Manhattan Ocean Club, Cite and The Post House share the spirit, serving up to eight wines each day at lunchtime, free. Selections include Stag’s Leap, DomPerignon, Heitz, Opus One and others.
So grab a disgruntled colleague and high-tail it out of your cubicle into the first day of spring.
Because, as Ogden Nash put it, “Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker…”
