And Tyler, Too!

In our universe of consumerism, multifunction reigns supreme. Water that burns fat. Watches that play music, gym shoes that slim your ass.

But a knockout dress you can actually breathe in?

This is no dream, skipper. “Active eveningwear” is the term boho designer Ashley Tyler has coined for her comfy and swank dresses and tops, made of sporty materials like microfiber and stretch-viscose. (A sweaty night of dancing? Just toss into the machine!) The stunning Aviva tunic is covered in Native American prints. The space-agey gold lamé Phoenix dress has a bolt of color up the spine. The Cobra top slithers up the back, exposing just the right amount of skin. The charming secret touch? Linings are hand-scrawled with Tyler’s poetry.

And here’s the charming secret history: The basement Greene Street shop was the old recording studio for Run DMC, L.L. Cool J, and Salt-n-Pepa. Clothes hang on branches Tyler collected on camping trips, handmade dream catchers greet visitors, and the dressing room is an enormous tepee. The effect is at once totally grounded and ravishingly futuristic. All you need is a great pair of matching heels.

We recommend a pump that feels like a sneaker.
