You so want to buy those designer distressed jeans. But you can’t bring yourself to shell out for yet another pair. Especially one that looks like it’s been dragged through the mud, marinated in clay, and shredded by a cheese grater.

There’s a better option. Bring your favorite denim to Central Park West boutique and have artist/designer Lincoln Mayne transform them into sophisticated “street couture.” He’ll sand them to a vintage wash, create natural-looking rips, patch holes with antique fabric, apply black-and-white silkscreen images, and add patterns around the waist to simulate boxers. Hugely cool. Yet subtle. (And allegedly a favorite of Kate Hudson and Kyra Sedgwick.)

The just-for-you jeans to last for seasons to come.
