Boy meets girl.
Boy texts girl.
Boy dates girl.
Boy wants to take it to “next level” and gives girl key to his apartment. Boy wants set of her keys, too. Girl reacts with feelings of joy, anxiety, and the slightest tinge of nausea (see also: intie). Once recovered, girl thinks of charming way to make swap memorable.
Girl traipses along to favorite East Village boutique Three Turtle Doves and leaves keys with downtown Renaissance man Jimmy DiResta (designer, teacher, inventor), who welds them into a beautiful, functional mini sculpture shaped like star. He even engraves Star Key with initials of boy and girl.
A few days later boy discovers that Star Key in his pocket is not only very cool and very original but also very clever.
Just like girl.
Available at Three Turtle Doves, 201 East 2nd Street, between
