Designer Scott Cronick will turn a beloved T-shirt into a pillow, a tote, an iPod case, a wristband, or a chic little clutch. Using heat-setting technology, Cronick fuses the original fabric with a durable material that makes them appropriate for life outside the gym or bedroom.
His recently opened East Village shop, Cronick Valentine (cute name!), is a fashion closet of adaptive reuse. If you don’t want to recycle your own history (tenth grade was bad enough the first time around), you can buy premade wares crafted from an assortment of random tops. (“I Committed Seven Sins at Holiday Inn,” anyone?)
No need to wear your heart on your sleeve anymore.
