In Charm's Way

Don’t hate her because she always spots the diamond in the rough at the otherwise crap-filled garage sale.

She’s doing it for you. In fact, if Allison Nowlin had a motto, it might be “Saving souls, one bauble at a time.”

When she moved to our fair city, Nowlin felt strangely empty (spiritually speaking). This being New York, instead of praying, she designed herself a necklace filled with vintage charms to inspire and comfort her — a personal rosary of sorts. And thus was born the loveliest of accessories.

Now you can have one, too. Just tell Nowlin which areas of your life you’d like to focus on (love, work, A.D.D., S.A.D., or whatever ails you), answer a few questions about yourself (you know it’s your favorite topic anyway), and she’ll set out to find the best trinkets for your necklace.

One friend who started wearing the amulet had a new job and a new love within two weeks. Is it karma? Is Nowlin a good witch of the east? Who knows.

If nothing else, the necklaces are terrifically chic. And that always lifts the spirits.

Who said shopping wasn’t good for the soul?
