A tendency to embellish the truth isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

For example, some stories demand a little hyperbole. Like the one where you’re promoted to CEO — yet fail to mention where you’re working these days.

So why shouldn’t the same go for your clothing? Allymoon’s Thea line of T-shirts is a subtle mix of fact and fiction. The cotton/Lycra-blend shirts are silk-screened with bright Asian-themed designs — a butterfly, flower, or kimono — then is embroidered with beads and sequins.

They’re not too busy or fancy, which makes them balanced enough to comfortably take your detailed but simple look one step further.

And the inspiration for these whimsical tees? The designer’s own tale of woe: Someone told her as a little girl that she’d never be able to draw. Which is a sad story.
