Another night. (Already?) Another party. (Yawn.) Another outfit to wow the crowds. (Well done!)

Wearable fashion done right again and again? Now that deserves an honorable mention.

When we met Laurie Loo designer Laurel Wells one night (at a party, of course), she was wearing some wicked concoction that was Victorian-inspired, fitted, and futuristic — all at once.

So we asked her about it. Turns out she’s got a whole collection: tunics, knee-length skirts, and flapper-style bloomers that evoke the past, present, and future at once. (It’s downright befitting of Dickens.)

Each item has a special effect, like old-fashioned tucks, darts, pleats, boning, and front-eye closures. Form-fitting tops have high collars, plunging necklines, and satin sashes. Skirts have bias cuts, bustles, cautious slits, and flagrant ruffles that are great for curvy girls.

Her signature piece for fall is an open-neck, cap-sleeve vest with silk dupioni tailoring.

Just the thing to slip on for another night, another party, another victory.
