Ladies and germs, say hello to September!
Time to get back into the swing of things. (Washed the sand out of your crack yet?) You’re so behind, multitasking is the only way to catch up. Not at work (yar, who wants to work?) but after hours.
Get going at Mo Pitkin’s House of Satisfaction, the new Judeo-Latino brasserie-bar-cabaret-lounge located in a former fabric warehouse (and back-in-the-day whorehouse) on Avenue A.
The place is “Jewish” (with “quotes”), which means nyuk-nyuk offerings like the Maneschevitini, the Cuban Reuben, and Mo’s Pickins, a selection of appetizers served on a seder plate. The back of the menu tells the charming legend of Mo Pitkin, the “mensch, macha, and man of the world,” who fled Poland and spent 1922 hanging out with “the traife showgirls of Montmartre.”
The entertainment continues upstairs at the small theater where Debby Harry and Jonathan Ames have already performed. This place is owned by Phil Hartman, the Two Boots owner who knows a thing or two about mixing snacks and fun, and his little brother, Jesse, a musician who’s taking an occasional turn at the mic.
Mo’s is technically “open” (with “quotes”), but “only for the neighborhood.”
Which means local traife only, please.
Mo Pitkin’s, 34 Avenue A, between 2nd and 3rd Streets (212-777-5660).
