You know how they say that seeing is believing?
Well, the Moscot kids (yep, fourth generation of the NYC eyeglass icon) took a good look at the neighborhood around their 90-year-old optical shop and realized that they needed to do a little something to preserve the local flavor.
The result of their vision? The Bean at Moscot’s, a laid-back coffee shop and gathering spot (in a former ’50s luncheonette) on Orchard and Delancey.
Teaming up with local pastry shops, The Bean offers baked goods, hot joe, frozen drinks, and egg creams, as well as computer stations and Internet access. Perfect for hanging out while it’s so cold outside.
Displayed on the walls you’ll find fascinating historic black and white photos documenting the ever-changing downtown scenery and, of course, cases of their famous vintage eyeglasses.
But don’t take our word for it. Go see it for yourself.
The Bean at Moscot’s, 118 Orchard Street, at Delancey Street (212-253-2075).
