“Air Keller flight 10 from Midtown Manhattan to Yountville, Napa Valley, now boarding.”
If only getting to Thomas Keller’s charming Bouchon Bakery with its Provençal decor and swoon-worthy nutter butters were that easy.
Dare to dream, sweet tooths, because Keller just opened an outpost in the Time Warner Center, one flight down from his legendary Per Se.
Hit the Tihany-designed cafe and bar for everything from seafood salad to pâté de campagne. Or stop by the retail counter for the CB&J: cashew butter and seasonal preserves (get the apricot while you can) served warm on light-as-air brioche.
They also sell dog biscuits made with foie gras and bacon. Cats love them, too, and word is they’re safe for (nonsqueamish) humans.
How do you know you’re not in wine country? Well, there’s a weird giant Samsung sign hanging overhead, which only adds to the feeling that you’re in the Copenhagen airport or a mall. Still, consider Bouchon the perfect middle ground between four-star gastrotemples and Whole Foods takeout.
Please have your tickets out. And remember, only two chocolate chip cookies per passenger.
Bouchon Bakery, Time Warner Center, 10 Columbus Circle, at 59th Street, third floor (212-823-9366).
