Whew, the heat is on. And we are schvitzing. Yet Molly Jackson keeps turning it up.
Literally. Like on an oxygen-propane bench torch — the designer’s tool for flame-working, her art of manipulating Pyrex into jewelry.
Jackson uses a 2,000-degree flame to hand-shape glass bracelets and rings that look like snapshots of rippling water; waves of ribbon candy; and slick, frostbitten baubles.
Check out Tuxedo, a collection of transparent rings named for the piping of color along the edges. Or get your hands on mouth-blown cobalt blue bubbles strung into necklaces. Frosty cube pendants look cold to the touch. And clear, oversize Sophia bracelets resemble cuffs of melting ice.
They’re stunning in person, with a futuristic edge that will make everyone want to stop and touch.
Now that should get you fired up.
