Cinderella got help from a fairy godmother, a magical pumpkin, and a legion of talented mice when she was getting ready for the ball.
All you have is your best friend in L.A. IM’ing, “i can’t tell if that pink dress makes your ass look fat.”
Next time you need a pre-party assist, head to Wardrobe NYC, the high-end (but totally unintimidating) clothing rental salon run by stylist Neva Lindner. She usually outfits only the Best-Dressed set (they don’t get that way on their own) but just recently opened her closet (more like a showroom) to the public.
So go, have a glass of wine, and pick from Narciso, ChloƩ, Rubin, Lacriox, Rick Owens, and more. (Lindner often scores dresses from the designers themselves.) No special occasion? Choose something for a later date.
The $250 consultation fee goes toward your first rental, which is 15 percent of the retail price of the dress. Not cheap, but cheaper than buying a $6,000 Herrera gown you’ll wear twice.
Now go live happily ever after.
Wardrobe NYC (212-609-0920 or wardrobe-nyc.com). By appointment only.
