Straight Jacket

Coats from DIGS

“Give it to me straight,” you say. (You always prefer cold, hard facts.)

Well it’s freaking cold, and that’s a fact. So cold, you’re even wearing a jacket indoors.

The place to go for an undercoat is DIGS (Done in Great Style), a boutique that opened without fanfare on the UES. Each piece is designed by the store’s owner and is classified as Royal (sophisticated cuts and luxury fabrics) or Vintage (old-school silhouettes and fabrics).

Thirty and below? No sweat. Throw off your winter bundle to reveal a short-sleeve jacket, capelet, or swing coat in plaid, houndstooth, or tweed wool with details like flared bottoms and puffed sleeves.

Even if you’re not buying, stop in to rest (among Victorian wallpaper and crystal chandeliers) in the plush chairs and chat with the lovely proprietors.

Not that we have to sugarcoat it for you.

DIGS, 1079 Third Avenue, at 64th Street (212-308-3447 or glamorousdigs.com).
